Mrs. Edith White Ming
Episcopal Supervisor, First Episcopal District

Called Home To Glory

On Wednesday, September 13th,  at 2 p.m., final services were held for Episcopal Supervisor, Mrs. Edith White Ming.  The services were held before an overflow gathering at St. Matthew's A.M.E. Church on 57th and Summer Streets in Philadelphia.  Mrs. Ming was world renown for her love of music, and appropriately the service was rich with music, provided by an ad hoc choir drawn from throughout the Connectional Church.  A host of Bishops and General Officers were in attendance and Bishop Vinton Anderson, who provided the eulogy, based his talk on Mrs. Ming's favorite admonition "Press On!"  Following the service, interment was in Ivy Hills Cemetery.  For full details of the service  [Click Here]  For a report from services held for Mrs. Ming at Big Bethel in Atlanta, Georgia [Click Here].  For the original news story run concerning Mrs. Ming's death [Click Here]  And to read the outpouring of A.M.E. Today reader's tributes as posted online, or to add yours to the growing list, [Click Here]  Pictures and live audio from the service should be available on the A.M.E. Today site before the end of the weekend.

Bishop Ming had asked that flowers not be sent but in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Edith White Ming Memorial Fund.  Donations either can be sent c/o Big Bethel at 220 Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia or Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church, 419 Richard Allen Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. 19147.
