Episcopal District
Purity A.M.E. Church
Holds Successful 1st Pastor's Annual Dinner
By
Reverend William Simon Hanse
The Purity
AME Church of Wanaheda in the Namibia Annual Conference of the 15th Episcopal
District held their 1st Pastor's Annual Dinner at the UN Plaza Hall in Katutura,
Namibia.
It was an
evening where the Namibian AME Who's Who met to socialize and support the Purity
Steward Board fundraising project. We are delighted to let you know that this
event was sold out already in the first week of December 2000.

In
attendance was the Rev Dr. Hendrik Witbooi (the Namibian Deputy Prime Minister)
and spouse; the Rev. W A Balie (Presiding Elder of Windhoek District) and spouse
and many other dignitaries, and rank and file members of the 4 congregations of
the AME Church in Windhoek.

The keynote
speech was delivered by the Rev. Albert E Biwa on "Doing Missions on the
Local Level). He encouraged clergy, laity and friends to implement the Mission
Statement of our beloved Zion.
The local
pastor, the Rev. W S Hanse then introduced the $50 000-00 US Club as a project
of the Purity AME Church. Brother Sam W Appollus and family donated N$1000-00 to
open an investment account with a financial institution, and this was followed
by numerous written pledges by those attending to contribute certain amounts
annually to this club until this church has been completed.
This
congregation was established in the new residential area of Soweto, Wanaheda and
Goreangab Dam in the Wndhoek, the Namibian capital. At the present moment we are
struggling to pay of an Erf 1300, Independence Avenue, Wanaheda. And this is a
prime plot that is situated along the most inportant street in Windhoek.
All
proceeds raised were donated to the $10 000-00 Club of the Purity AME Church
Trustee Board. If you wish to support this worthy cause, please send your
contributions to: Purity AME Church, Trustee Board Vice_Chairman, P O Box 62292,
Katutura.
