Reverdy Ransom Garrett,
a devoted member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is prepared to serve as President for the First Episcopal District Lay Organization.
Reverdy has spent his lifetime in service: To God, to his Country, to Clergy, to Organized Labor, to Civic Leaders and to Laymen alike.
He was the first African American to serve 533rd Military Intelligence Unit in Europe; he received an honorable discharge from the United States Army.
He was the first African American member of Teamster's Local elected to serve as Union Representative in 13,000 member history.
Reverdy is a devout layman who has served on the Local, District and Conference levels.
He was a Biennial Delegate since 1981, a Lay Floor Leader at 2 General Conferences and an elected Delegate to four General Conferences.
His service record in the African Methodist Episcopal Church endures as Philadelphia Annual Conference Trustee for 8 years. In addition, he is a member of the Budget Committee and Vice Chairman of the Legislative Committee for the First Episcopal District.
Current President of the "Mother District" Philadelphia Conference Lay Organization since 1992 as well as formerly elected as First Vice President from 1984 to 1992.
