Ella Harris

Ella Harris passed Tuesday, December 5, 2000 peacefully at home. 

Born April 5, 1910 in Octagon, Alabama. Predeceased by husband Rev. W.H. Harris, and son John Harris. Active member of Mt. Vernon Avenue A.M.E. Church and the Essie Hamilton Missionary Society of the church. 

Member of the Order of Eastern Star Grace Chapter 100, member of the A.M.E. and Interdenominational Ministers Wives and Widows of Columbus and Vicinity. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Rufus (Elizabeth), Willie (Gloria), Evelyn Duncan and daughter-in-law, Wilhelmina Harris of Dayton, Oh., Jacqueline (Clifton) Gravely of New York, Donald (Hester), and Marvin of Columbus, Oh., brother, Clifford (Helen) Barnett of Connecticut; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews. 

Homegoing service Saturday 10 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Ave A.M.E. Church, 1127 Mt. Vernon Avenue. pastor William S. Wheatley, officiating. Mrs. Harris will lie in state Friday, 12-4 p.m., at DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street and after 5 p.m. at the church where the family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Eastern Star Services begin at 7:30 p.m. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery.
