It was business and all business Thursday. Emotions ran high on occasion
Every day it seems more likely that the 46th General Conference will elect a female Bishop. Question is who?
If the first female Bishop comes out of the 46th General Conference it will be on merit. A special ressolution to allocate a Bishop slot for a female was defeated
Sunday was a day of worship, presentation and musical praise. From the early morning worship and commmunion service where Bishop Henning preached, to the Dedication service of the Christian Debutante-Masters and the concluding General Conference Festival of Music.
It was a battle royal, followed by several hours of anticipation as the Episcopal Committee modified its report, so now there are four Bishop slos. Bishop Brookins went from located to retired to located in the course of nine hours. Voting for Bishops will begin at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The African Methodist Episcopal Church now has a female Bishop, the Reverend Vashti McKenzie, who was elected on the second ballot. Also elected on the second was Reverend Richard Franklin Norris of Philadelphia.
