Flood Ravages Namibia

Dear Friends

Just to let you know that Mariental, the capital of the Hardap Region in the Republic of Namibia, and host of the Midyear Convocation 2006, experienced a major flood last weekend (Friday, February 24th, 2006 – Monday, February 27th, 2006). The entire lower town to the west of the railway line was completely flooded when the inflow to the Hardap Dam, the largest water reservoir in Namibia, increased its volumes to 110% full. The sluices were opened, and that caused a breakdown to electricity, the sewerage system, loss of lives (including a young man of St. James AMEC), etc.

We still thank God for the rain irrespective of the damages that resulted when the sluices of the dam were opened. The challenge is ours to resettle, rebuild and rehabilitate the affected persons and communities. The St. James Trust is one of the few non-profit organizations involved in this gigantic task, where we feel we are called to make a difference.

If you, or your institution, or your church would like to support our initiative, please do not hesitate to call me at the number listed below or to send your contribution clearly marked St. James Trust to:

Mr. Hendrik F Links (Centre Head)

Rev. C's Women's International Day of Prayer

On March 10, 2006, please join 5th District Episcopal Supervisor Rev. Dr. Cecilia Williams Bryant, First A.M.E. Los Angeles, the A.M.E. Connectional Church, and the world in an International Day of Prayer.

Our Episcopal Supervisor, Dr. Cecelia Bryant has made a clarion call to pray 12 hours on Friday, March 10, 2006.  This International Prayer Vigil will be held at First AME, Los Angeles from 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight.

Dr. "C's" heart's desire is to have 1,000 Prayers each hour.  Intercessors, please register with her office (323.730.7707).  However, if you plan to stay the entire season from noon to midnight, soup, juices, fruit, herbal teas, and water will be provided.

Saints, our Episcopal Supervisor is asking us to simply pray together for our nation, renewal of the earth, our children, the pandemic of HIV/AIDS and more.  We need to stand in the gap and stay on the wall together as we pray without ceasing!

If you cannot join us on March 10, 2006, please stand with us in the urgent season of prayer.  If you are physically able, we asking you to fast as the Lord leads you.

Please come join us and pray!

By the way, THE BROTHERS ARE WELCOME!  See the Schedule.  Bishop John needs your support AND your prayers!
