Hello, Dr. Chip

Murray leads Ward during trying time.

AME-Today Staff Reporter

Los Angeles, (March 5 2006) - Bishop John R. Bryant, Presiding Prelate of the 5th Episcopal District, has appointed the legendary Rev. Dr. Cecil L. "Chip" Murray as Interim Pastor of Ward A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles.

Bishop John R. Bryant, Presiding Prelate of the 5th Episcopal District

Rev. Sylvester Laudermill, Jr.

Rev. Dr. Cecil L. "Chip" Murray Bishop John R. Bryant Rev. Sylvester Laudermill, Jr.

Rev. Murray, the former pastor of First A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles, had retired in 2004, due to A.M.E. Church law.

Reactivating Rev. Murray was not a simple task; A retired pastor may still serve the church as a staff minister, but no retired pastor has ever been reassigned to lead a church in the 5th District in the last 6 years.

According to sources close to Rev. Murray, he was "honored and humbled" at the chance to serve in the Kingdom once more.

Please lift the Brothers and Sisters of Ward A.M.E. Church during their time of trial.
