Rev. Carl D. Ogden, Sr.

The Rev. Carl D. Ogden, Sr. was born in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.

At an early age, he moved with his family to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Following his graduation from Homestead Senior High School, he matriculated at Wilberforce University, Wilberforce, Ohio. He graduated Cum Laude from Wilberforce University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology.

Rev. Ogden attended Boston University School of Theology on a Rockefeller Fellowship. He graduated with honors from Boston University with a Bachelor of Sacred Theology Degree. Rev. Ogden received a Master of Education degree in Counseling from Villanova University and holds a Pennsylvania State Certifcation in Secondary Guidance. He received a Doctorate of Divinity degree from Monrovia College, Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa.

As an extension of his ministry, Rev. Ogden counselled troubled youth at the Youth Study Center for twenty years under the auspices of the Philadelphia School District.

Rev. Ogden has been a pastor in the A.M.E. Church since 1963. He has pastored in the following churches:

Charles Street, Boston, MA (Youth Pastor)
St. Phillip, Smith's Parish, Bermuda
Bright Temple, Warwick, Bermuda
New Bethel, Germantown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
A.M.E. Union, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Wherever he has served, Rev. Ogden has been a loving shepherd, a builder, motivator, capable administrator, and a preacher of renown.

In 1993, Rev. Ogden was appointed Presiding Elder of the Harrisburg District of the Philadelphia Conference. He served in this capacity until 1994 when he was appointed Presiding Elder if the Mother District of African Methodism - The Philadelphia District.

Since an early age, Rev. Ogden has used his baritone voice to sing praises to God. Many souls have been uplifted by his melodious singing. In addition to his love of music, he enjoys photograpy and fishing.

Rev. Ogden holds membership in many professional and civic organizations. Among them are the A.M.E. Preachers' Meetong of Philadelphia and Vicinity, The Black Clergy of Philadelphia, The Pennsylvania Counselors Association, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and The Grand Lodge of Scotland (Masonic Order). He is a member of the Board of Incorporators of the A.M.E. Church.

Rev. Ogden is married to the former Forestyne Williams and is the father of three children: DeVaunte and twins - Carl and Carla.
